All you need to know about heat transfer painting

Customized gadgets have ended up a massive trend. We all want to customize something we will with our names or customize merchandise to suit our personalities. Heat switch paper permits you to create custom material designs, like t-shirts together along with your home, inkjet printer and a hand iron. We`ve created an intensive manual to what Heat Transfer Paper is and the way you may apply it to your subsequent project.

What is heat transfer paper?

Think of thermal transfer paper as a kind of cloth sticker. You can print any design on  paper with your home inkjet printer and paste it on a 100% natural fabric. This paper has a special heat transfer technique that fuses the printed design to the fabric by using heat and pressing  with a heat press or a hand iron.

What is the best type of fabric to use with heat transfer paper?

They should be transferred to a fabric that contains 100% natural fibers. For example, silk, linen, cotton. Thermal transfer paper is not suitable for polyester fabrics or elastic fabrics such as lycra and spandex blends. Be sure to wash the fabric in advance before use to avoid  stretching after the transfer has fused. Once the cloth is  dry, iron it quickly before applying the thermal transfer paper. Want to know how to find the content composition of your substance? Just look for the fabric label on your garment and you’ll know the composition of 100% cotton and 100% linen.

Difference between transparent and white heat transfer paper

There are two types of thermal transfer paper: transparent thermal transfer paper for light cloth and white thermal transfer paper for dark cloth.

Transparent or transparent thermal transfer paper is mainly used for application to  white cloth. But it can also be applied to other very light colored fabrics. Transparent thermal transfer paper is a very thin and transparent film. When applied to a colored cloth, the color of the cloth is visible through a transparent heat transfer film.

White Heat Transfer Paper is used for application to darker  fabrics. White transfer paper is a pale opaque white. When applied to colored or dark fabrics, the opaque white transfer obscures the color of the dark fabric  through the transfer.

When using white thermal transfer paper, it is important to cut as close to the image as possible. This is because after heat pressing the transfer, you can see everything around the image. For  best results, we recommend using a cutting machine such as the Silhouette Cameo or  Cricut.

Even when using transparent thermal transfer paper, it is recommended to cut as close to the image as possible. Again, using a cutting machine like the Silhouette or  Cricut will allow for the most accurate cutting. However, you can also use scissors to cut out the decals  by hand.
